Finally, a company that gets it. The security cameras that home owners and businesses buy from stores like Lowes, Home Depot and plenty of online stores are horrible. These cheap cameras offer very little instructions and they give you the same camera no matter what your needs are. With their supplied cameras it’s hard to recognize a face, at night, the night vision feature provides no real night vision coverage since it can’t see any more than several feet.

Get real protection with real cameras and pros who know how to install them.  In the month of January 2012, American Nuwire is offering relief from poor quality security cameras and will be offering high definition indoor and outdoor cameras from mid-range to 700TV lines of resolution with full  installation starting at $189. Our technicians are licensed electricians and experts in security cameras who happen to know what type of camera each location needs.  For example, a  basic infrared camera is great for closeups like a front or back door but terrible if your trying to view your front or backyard. Why? because most infrared cameras are manufactured to only see about 15 feet. Beyond that, there is almost complete darkness. Your not going to get that level of expertise out of an all in one bargain camera system.

I’ll even sweeten the deal for January. Order 4 cameras with installation for your home or business at $189 and we’ll include a 4 camera Recorder (DVR) for Free so you can record and view your cameras online on your TV, mobile phone, laptop or computer tablet.

Your camera will be installed by a licensed electrician who specializes in placing cameras in areas that not only compliment the look of your home or business but also covers the most area as possible. Sometimes cameras have to be placed in a reachable area. In those cases, you will receive vandal resistant cameras. Call for a free quote today! (773) 382-8830

Already have cameras? If you need a security video recorder, you can purchase one of our advance security digital video recorders (DVR) that allows you to record video for up to a month or more. It also allows you to view your cameras from anywhere. Recorders start at $247 and online programming that allows online viewing from a laptop, computer, mobile phone or tablet cost $70. Game System Fights Real Crime http://nuwire.net/blog/2011/04/14/game-system-fights-real-crime/ http://nuwire.net/blog/2011/04/14/game-system-fights-real-crime/#comments Thu, 14 Apr 2011 15:41:31 +0000 Administrator http://nuwire.net/blog/?p=514 Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been robbed of one of your precious electronic devices?  I know I had.  I had mobile phones, a laptop and even a MP3 player picked from my backpack (yeah, back in the day when people had solo MP3 players). It was infuriating! I can picture the violator in my head enjoying his little caper by dancing a little jig before he sold my items for chump change. Did I ever get any of my stuff back?  Sadly in most cases the answer would be no.  In the Chicago area alone there are thousands of electronic devices stolen every year at airports, restaurants, schools and of course home robberies.

There has been a lot of talk about making electronic devices with GPS tracking that can be activated by the police. Unfortunately, many manufacturers of popular devices site cost and implementation as a reason not to install such a measure in their devices but luckily there is software you can install in certain devices that can help you catch the criminal red handed. In fact I found two stories of devices catching criminals on video as they celebrated their caper.

One: My PS3 Refuse To Be A Victim

(reposted from PS3 community forum)

“So this past Wednesday Dec 16th somebody broke into my apartment while I was at work and stole about 24 ps3 video games, 45 ps2 games, 52 snes games, all of my consoles including my PS3 and components including a PS3 camera.  What the thief didn’t know is that I had my PS3 connected to my PSP.  As some of you know, once you hook up your PSP to your PS3 you can remotely control your PS3 through your PSP through a local or internet connection.  I tried every day, every hour to see if by any chance the thief connected the PS3 to the Iinternet. Surely on Friday Dec 18th at around 11:30pm I was able to turn on the PS3 from my home by using my PSP using my internet connection.  I opened a chat room, turned on the camera and surely enough I got to see a close look at the thief’s face! (probably looking at it wondering why the PS3 had turned on by itself!!!), with my digital camera readily available I took a picture of the PSP screen with the thiefs face!!  Called the police and they quickly recognized the person!!!! LONG STORY SHORT, I GOT MY PS3 WITH NO DAMAGE WHATSOEVER AND ALL OF MY GAMES WERE RECOVERED!.”

The second story has not only been a staple all over the Internet but has a video of the perpetrator celebrating in front of the laptop he stoled!

Two: MacBook Owner Puts Thief On YouTube

By:

Sometimes, when you lose something, you can gain something too. Sometimes, when you feel someone has wronged you, there might be an avenue down which you can discover a little solace–or even a touch of revenge.

This seems to be the case with Mark Bao and his stolen MacBook Air.

Bao, you see, might have not done well in leaving his laptop in a lounge at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., allowing an opportunist to swipe it earlier this year. However, he had already embedded a little wisdom inside of his machine by installing BackBlaze software.

This, the way CBS News.com tells it, allowed him to enter his laptop remotely and see what might be going on there. Or, indeed, going down.

And what a picture of humanity in the Facebook age was revealed.

The first thing the alleged thief reportedly did was photograph himself. Then he filmed himself dancing to Tyga’s “Make It Rain.” Bao, naturally, was impressed by the software’s performance rather more than he was by the alleged thief’s.

“From the files on the computer and some legwork, I was able to track down who [the alleged thief] was, his Facebook page, his e-mail, and the [now] infamous videos,” he told CBS News.com in a story published yesterday.

Why are the videos infamous? Oh, Bao put one up on YouTube, where it has now enjoyed almost 1 million views.

You might be stunned into abandoning your plans to waltz this weekend when I tell you that the alleged thief contacted Bao and begged him for mercy.

With a gall that some might find just a little pathetic, he sent Bao a Facebook message that reportedly read, in part: “I know I am in no position to ask you for favors but Can you please put down the videos that you have put up of me.”

I wasn’t aware that one could inject a video with the same substance that a vet uses to euthanize a rottweiler.

Bentley University spokeswoman Michele Walsh today told me: “The person who stole Mark Bao’s laptop did return it and admitted the theft to our university police. The alleged thief is not a Bentley student.” University police are pressing charges of larceny and trespassing, which were filed today, she said.

Bao, though, still can’t decide what to do about the YouTube video. Be a modern man, Mark. Monetize it.

Catch Loud Booming Cars With Surveillance Video http://nuwire.net/blog/2011/04/13/catch-loud-booming-cars-with-surveillance-video/ http://nuwire.net/blog/2011/04/13/catch-loud-booming-cars-with-surveillance-video/#comments Thu, 14 Apr 2011 01:46:05 +0000 Administrator http://nuwire.net/blog/?p=493 Loud booming cars cruising down your block in defiance of local laws, rattling car alarms and waking you up at two in the morning.  Local police try to crack down when they can but unfortunately they only cover main through ways.  These car owners with stereos that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars use smaller streets for entertainment. As they cruise down your block they turn up there speakers and see how many car alarms they can turn on.

Neighborhood watch groups and block clubs have a hard time pinpointing these cars for police to file a complaint and unfortunately become lax in trying to curb the nuisance.

Now individuals and groups are finding it easier to catch these booming loud cars using a camera system that can not only see them but pinpoint which car is producing the loud noise as well as read their license plates.  The system can connect to any smartphone (with the password).  Here in Chicago, some block clubs or individuals are using the system and supplying their connection to the local police or CAPS coordinator, allowing them to not only see but hear the violators from the camera system on their mobile phones.

The system is called Boom Catcher and is intended to see, hear and record violators of local volume ordinances.  The Boom Catcher configuration depends on the customers need.  One version uses just one 3 megapixel camera with a built in mic. It allows you to view a wide area and zoom in on license plates and windshield vibrations. An analog version consist of at least two enclosed cameras with built in mics, one to pick up the make and model of the car, the other for license plates and depending on light conditions, the face of the driver.  Pan, Tilt, Zoom cameras are sometimes used (and can be controlled by a smartphone) in certain cases. A special software is used to pinpoint the car that is causing the low base vibrations.

If you would like to talk to a Boom Catcher consultant, please contact Armand at nuwire@yahoo.com or call 312-970-1579

The Truth About Infrared Security Cameras http://nuwire.net/blog/2011/03/20/the-truth-about-infrared-security-cameras/ http://nuwire.net/blog/2011/03/20/the-truth-about-infrared-security-cameras/#comments Sun, 20 Mar 2011 17:33:38 +0000 Administrator http://nuwire.net/blog/?p=467 For the home and small business market, infrared security cameras has out sold just about every other type of camera configuration available.  Over 65 percent of security cameras sold in the U.S. market in 2010 had some type of infrared feature. But does this feature do what most customers expect them to do?  Well, the short answer is no.  Infrared cameras have been touted as the perfect camera for low light conditions. In reality, it was originally meant to be used in locations that have NO light within a small confined space like a storage room, closet or a never lit entry way. In most cases what you see with no lighting  from an infrared camera in a wide area is a foggy image of whatever sits within 10 feet of the camera lens.  Beyond 10 feet in dark areas, most infrared cameras can only pick up reflective surfaces.

As a security camera consultant I try to steer my customers away from infrared cameras as much as possible. There is a need for infrared but only under certain conditions. What most do customers need when they have very dark areas to cover are Super Low Light Cameras.  These cameras can see in almost  complete darkness in a wide area like a backyard or a warehouse floor without detail you can’t get with infrared lighted cameras.

Super low light cameras can see as far as 30 yards in star light. On moonlit nights an outside area could look as if it was bathed in sunlight and indoor areas seem well lit with only the exit sign lighting a whole floor. What you can’t see with the naked eye, your super low light will see just fine. I have switched out dozens of infrared cameras here in the Chicago area in lieu of super low light cameras for customers who had lost court cases based on what you couldn’t see on their infrared camera.

Being able to see in very dark areas is not the only benefit you will get, another plus to Super low light security cameras is the amount of superb video resolution it has.  A high-end infrared camera can only go up to 480 lines of resolution while a Super low light camera can get up to 600 lines or more.  This is very important considering that you want to see as much detail in dark areas as possible.

Unfortunately, I find nightclubs using infrared cameras all the time that flicker between their color daylight and B&W nightlight settings every few seconds because the low light conditions in a club can vary because of movement, the type of clothing patrons are wearing or the amount of flickering show lights that are used in the club.  In the case of nightclubs, i use black & white super low light camera inside the club to get extreme details without the distraction of color cycling on and off with bad resolution from an infrared camera.  I use low light color cameras  outdoors to see the color of the patrons clothing when they walked into the club.  Infrared cameras are only used in the stock room or closets of the club were I find closed confined space with no visible light at all.

Be careful, there are numerous websites and stores that sell cameras that tout that they are super low light cameras.  Some stores only sell infrared cameras without knowing the benefit of a true super or ultra low light camera. Make sure you hire an experienced independent security camera consultant who will thoroughly go over your location and recommend the right camera equipment and installation options for your needs.

Control Everything With Your Mobile Phone http://nuwire.net/blog/2010/02/13/control-everything-with-your-mobile-phone/ http://nuwire.net/blog/2010/02/13/control-everything-with-your-mobile-phone/#comments Sun, 14 Feb 2010 03:36:03 +0000 Administrator http://nuwire.net/blog/?p=340 BlackberryControllerA universal remote control is only good if it is really, truly universal: something few companies have managed to do thus far. Unify4Life has. Its AVShadow, which launched today for $100, turns a Blackberry into a remote capable of controlling virtually every component of your home entertainment system. TiVos, Blu-Ray players, iPods and VCRs can be launched with a click. Place the minute, Bluetooth-equipped AVShadow next to your entertainment center, download the app and you’re done.

Two more modules, one to open your garage door and one that controls macs or PCs (think the Apple remote, but more expansive) are set to launch later this year for $40 and $30 respectively. Eventually, the apps will let you control thermostats, baby monitors and more. The interface is clean and intuitive, and there are thoughtful extras like TV listings and music-streaming capabilities. The company is working on a version for iPhones and another for Android, so guys with too much time on their hands might want to start rigging up the mood lighting now. PopSci.com

Security Camera Installation http://nuwire.net/blog/2009/11/16/security-camera-installation/ http://nuwire.net/blog/2009/11/16/security-camera-installation/#comments Mon, 16 Nov 2009 19:13:53 +0000 Administrator http://nuwire.net/blog/?p=179 Installer2 Installing security cameras at your home or place of business should be taken seriously.  It is better to get an experienced security camera installer the first time then to wait until something goes horribly wrong and find out that your camera system wasn’t up to the task.
I have been a camera system installer for over 9 years and over those years I found that my customers main concern was will I be around to maintain or fix the system throughout the years. When you invest in a security system you want to make sure your investment secures you for some time to come. Quiz your potential installer and make sure the model he is installing for your home or business isnot his first. Also make sure he gives you details on how he is going to install your system and how much time he is willing to spend on training you or someone you trust on how to use the system.
Depending on your budget you may want to have a maintenance agreement to cover anything that may go wrong with the cameras or recording system. Cameras are no different than light bulbs in the fact that they can have a limited life span. Most cameras last for 2-3 years when they are on continuously. Unfortunately just like a light bulb they may go out suddenly right after a few weeks and the hard drive in your camera recorder (DVR) may overheat. Most maintenance contracts cover incidents like this and can give you a greater peace of mind. Some camera installers try to give you the most affordable cameras and installation to fit your budget without a maintenance contract but will be able to fix your camera problem in the future for an hourly fee if something goes wrong after 30 days.
I prefer offering a maintenance contract along with the installation but it all depends on the customers security budget.

Chicago’s 3,000 New Security Cameras http://nuwire.net/blog/2009/11/12/chicagos-3000-new-security-cameras/ http://nuwire.net/blog/2009/11/12/chicagos-3000-new-security-cameras/#comments Thu, 12 Nov 2009 22:37:24 +0000 Administrator http://nuwire.net/blog/?p=119 ChicagoCamerasIn July, CHA moved forward with a $23 million plan to install over 3,000 new security cameras in public housing developments across the city. The authority says the plan will “ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.”

Three-thousand one hundred and ninety eight cameras. That sounds like a lot, right?
Mayor Daley made a comment when he was visiting New Orleans to the city’s mayor, Ray Nagin.
“Look, I like these crime cameras you guys are doing in New Orleans. They’re cheaper than hiring more police officers and we’re going to do them in a big way in Chicago,” Daley said, according to Nagin during an appearance on the local FOX affiliate.

Go to the city of Chicago website to see a map of the proposed camera placements.
