Be Secure With High Definition Security

High definition cameras, nanny cams, hidden cameras, zoom security cameras. Finally, a company that gets it. The security cameras that home owners and businesses buy from stores like Lowes, Home Depot and plenty of online stores are horrible. These cheap cameras offer very little instructions and they give you the same camera no matter what your needs are. With their supplied cameras it’s hard to recognize a face, at night, the night vision feature provides no real night vision coverage since it can’t see any more than several feet.

Game System Fights Real Crime

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been robbed of one of your precious electronic devices?  I know I had.  I had mobile phones, a laptop and even a MP3 player picked from my backpack (yeah, back in the day when people had solo MP3 players). It was infuriating! I can picture the violator in my head enjoying his little caper by dancing a little jig before he sold my items for chump change. Did I ever get any of my stuff back?  Sadly in most cases the answer would be no.  In the Chicago area alone there are thousands of electronic devices stolen every year at airports, restaurants, schools and of course home robberies.

There has been a lot of talk about making electronic devices with GPS tracking that can be activated by the police. Unfortunately, many manufacturers of popular devices site cost and implementation as a reason not to install such a measure in their devices but luckily there is software you can install in certain devices that can help you catch the criminal red handed. In fact I found two stories of devices catching criminals on video as they celebrated their caper. (more…)

As they cruise down your block they turn up there speakers and see how many car alarms they can turn on. (more…)

The Truth About Infrared Security Cameras

For the home and small business market, infrared security cameras has out sold just about every other type of camera configuration available.  Over 65 percent of security cameras sold in the U.S. market in 2010 had some type of infrared feature. But does this feature do what most customers expect them to do?  Well, the short answer is no.  Infrared cameras have been touted as the perfect camera for low light conditions. In reality, it was originally meant to be used in locations that have NO light within a small confined space like a storage room, closet or a never lit entry way. In most cases what you see with no lighting  from an infrared camera in a wide area is a foggy image of whatever sits within 10 feet of the camera lens.  Beyond 10 feet in dark areas, most infrared cameras can only pick up (more…)

Security Camera Installation

Installer2 Installing security cameras at your home or place of business should be taken seriously.  It is better to get an experienced security camera installer the first time then to wait until something goes horribly wrong and find out that your camera system wasn’t up to the task.
I have been a camera system installer for over 9 years and over those years I found that my customers main concern was will I be around to maintain or fix the system throughout the years. When you invest in a security system you want to make sure your investment secures you for some time to come. Quiz your potential installer and make sure the model he is installing for your home or business is (more…)

Chicago’s 3,000 New Security Cameras

ChicagoCamerasIn July, CHA moved forward with a $23 million plan to install over 3,000 new security cameras in public housing developments across the city. The authority says the plan will “ensure the safety and well-being of its residents.”

Three-thousand one hundred and ninety eight cameras. That sounds like a lot, right?
Mayor Daley made a comment when he was visiting New Orleans to the city’s mayor, Ray Nagin.
“Look, I like these crime cameras you guys are doing in New Orleans. They’re cheaper than hiring more police officers and we’re going to do them in a big way in Chicago,” Daley said, according to Nagin during an appearance on the local FOX affiliate.

Go to the city of Chicago website to see a map of the proposed camera placements.
